Concrete benchtops give a great industrial urban look to your build, they are hardwearing and an easy to clean surface. In modern homes they give a temporary touch.

Ideally your builder will organize the concrete pour and NZ Grinders will come in to finish. The concrete requires about 28 days dry time before grinding.

We will polish concrete walls both inside and outside of your home. Polished concrete is a great option for tilt slab panels; these inside concrete walls can be used to add thermal mass and a designer look to both residential and commercial properties.

We offer finishes including marble, salt and pepper, moderate and full exposure stone for both interior or exterior applications.  Finishes include matt honed, satin and gloss. We have a variety of different finishes to suit all budgets.

Tilt panels need to be polished horizontally, before installation.

We can provide a full range of prep grinding work for your project including prepping concrete floors for new coatings – both old and new, we can repair rain damage on your new concrete pour, we remove tile glue and adhesive, we do concrete repairs, ramp formation, uplift cork tiles and provide floor levelling services

Acid washing is used to give a washed out look on concrete aggregate, and can also be used to provide a surface texture.  Effectively the surface laitance are melted to give a stipple effect.

Acid washed surfaces are used for outdoor areas.

Anti slip finishes vary depending on personal preference – it can come in different colours and grit levels.

Bathrooms, high traffic areas, footpaths, wet areas and commercial freezers can all benefit from anti-slip coatings – basically anywhere that could be slippery.

We can mix anti-slip into any sealant that we put down, we can also lay epoxy resins with quartz, or we could grind a concrete slab then bush hammer and seal

Terraflake coatings are sometimes referred to as “flake” floors.

Flake floors can be used when concrete can’t be polished – this is a coated surface treatment. It is sometimes chosen when 2 slabs of concrete are poured at different times, so to polish would leave too different a finish.

It is also usually applied in high traffic area – a perfect flooring solution for public amenities for a hygienic, easy to clean flooring solution, such as public toilets, campground kitchens or bathroom facilities.

Concrete floor repairs are a standard part of most floors we grind.

Options include cementitious or epoxy solutions.

This means, if a stone pops out, we can fill the space with a colour to match.

Keep in mind, no concrete is the same colour.

We can fill holes, saw cuts and voids

The acid left behind from cow sheds can damage a floor over time.

We can offer levelling to help with water run off; grinding to reduce slipping, or channel cutting –  get in contact with us for a site visit to offer the best solution.

In food processing workspaces such as butchers shops or pet food factories, NZ Grinders can provide hygienic and food grade flooring options. Epoxy coatings are a great solution for this space. Depending on the food grade, we can tailor a solution to suit.

Stained concrete is an inexpensive but attractive alternative to polished concrete. This method involves applying acid or water-based stains to the concrete surface to create colors and patterns. Stained concrete retains the natural texture of concrete and creates a unique, artistic look. This is a cost-effective way to make your floor look beautiful with minimal maintenance. We recently stained concrete at the Costco in Auckland.
